Ingredients and Method
Ingredients
- 1 medium orange
- 1 lemon
- 1 lime
- 1 green apple (cored)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup fresh pineapple chunks
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
Method
- Prepare the Fruit: Wash and thoroughly dry all the produce.
- Slice Evenly: Using a sharp knife or a mandoline, slice the orange, lemon, lime, and apple into uniform 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch thick rounds. Cut the strawberries in half lengthwise. Leave the pineapple chunks and blueberries whole.
- Arrange in the Basket: Place the prepared fruit in a single, even layer inside the air fryer basket. Ensure the pieces are not overlapping so the air can circulate freely around each slice.
- Set the Dehydrate Function: Select the Dehydrate preset on the digital display. Adjust the temperature to 135°F (this is the ideal temperature for gently removing moisture without cooking the fruit).
- Dehydrate: Let the Infra-Heat™ technology gently and evenly draw out the moisture. The drying time will vary depending on the thickness and water content of the fruit: Apples and Strawberries: Check around the 4 to 5-hour mark. Citrus Wheels and Pineapple: Check around the 6 to 8-hour mark. Blueberries: Check around the 8-hour mark.
- Cool and Store: Once the fruits are completely dry and leathery (or crisp, depending on your preference), remove them from the basket. Allow them to cool completely to room temperature before storing them in an airtight glass jar.
- Garnish Tip: Drop a dehydrated citrus wheel and a few dried strawberries into a gin and tonic, sparkling water, or a rosé sangria. The fruit will slowly rehydrate, releasing a beautiful, concentrated flavor into your drink.
